DO NOT contact these resources about a sick, injured, or orphaned wild animal you have found. These resources are for general animal questions only. Please note it may take up to 72 hours to receive a response.

For information about sick, injured, or orphaned wildlife and rescue information, leave a message on WCA’s hotline at 916-965-9453 and a volunteer will return your call as soon as possible. You can also find rescue information in the Found Animal section of our website.

Place the animal in a box, put on a heating pad set on low, and place in a safe, quiet area away from drafts, children, pets, or any other loud/distracting noises.  Injured/sick wild animals in captivity are under a great amount of stress; loud noises or constantly looking at the animal can cause them to die.

Do not try to give the animal food or water.

Contact the appropriate volunteer from the list below. You should receive a call or email back as soon as possible. If you feel the animal is in need of immediate care or you are not comfortable waiting for a call or email back, please take the animal immediately to our facility during our intake hours.

For non-rescue information animal information, please contact the following person(s). Please note that it may take up to 72 hours for a response.
